game 6 recap

I have to admit it was a tough loss on Wednesday for the BLAZERS. We came out so strong and ready to win the game. From the start, we showered the other team's goalie with shots, confused their defense with smart moves, and controlled the ice on both sides of the house. Galvin, our goalie, showed some incredible high-level skills in the net and shut down most of their attacks during the 1st and 2nd periods. Unfortunately, Team 4 found some secret reserves and rallied togehter to stage a 4-goal comeback in the 3rd period. We struggled and could not find that extra boost of energy to stop their forwards. It was a physical and very entertaining game. Go BLAZERS!

game recap

the Blazers took Team 2 by storm last Monday. Our hockey stars stepped on ice ready to win and never looked back. The shots on goal were definitely in our favor. Our boys had it all: everyone skated fast, hustled along the boards, passed to each other, led in won face-offs, and most important enjoyed playing together. How about our goalie Cole? He was solid and stopped three penalty shots. Once again, Jack’s dad, the official BLAZERS’ cameraman, captured the history in the making and recorded our future champions through his magic lens.

Game 3 recap

Despite our first loss of the season, the BLAZERS played their hearts out. They started slow and had a difficult time ramping up in the 1st period. However, they rallied and came back with force in the 2nd and 3rd periods. JJ manned the pipes and did a fantastic job. He was showered with shots, but kept his cool and remained focused through the end of the game. Every BLAZER played his position and most important guarded the "house": pushed the pucks to the side, passed to each other, and stayed out of offsites. Dylan Nekrasas earned the game puck. Also, I would like to congratulate Luke Bordas for his amazing performance during Game 2 that was recognized with the game puck. Our current record stands at 2-0-1. Great job guys!

Game 1 Recap

Hey BLAZERS,

Are you still cooling down from the opening game last night? I know I am. The BLAZERS came out strong and were ready to battle from the start. Both our 1st & 2nd lines played extremely well and showed a lot of talent last night: great skating, NHL speed, skillful puck handling, strategic passing, unbeatable goaltending, true sportsmanship, and high scoring. All players handled their individual positions extremely well and truly earned their first victory of the season – the final score 6:2. The game puck went to Aidan Hammond. Congratulations BLAZERS!

Thank you to BOB & CINDY BORDAS for the game snacks. They were very much appreciated by all players. Yummy!

The Coaches will be working on lines for Monday’s game on Saturday. Please let me know if you cannot make it to the game. Thank you.

Now, let’s take a few minutes and re-live the most impressive moments from our game last night….thanks to our own BLAZERS Cameraman – Mr. ActionShot – Jack Balthasar! Jack didn’t miss a second and documented the entire game. Take a look at our BLAZERS through his powerful lens

Coach Bob giving a pregame strategy talk to a group of very attentive Blazers.

Blazers show team unity immediately before taking the ice for combat!

The Blazers show of the famous "Mighty Ducks flying wedge" formation. This difficult formation leaves teams in such fear many of their players opt to flee rather than face this formation! We just need to get this formation going towards the opponents goal, rather than towards the side boards, to be really impressive!

Here is a more typical positional style of play that worked well for us in this game.

Strong defense

and goaltending is always a required for a chance at victory and the boys provided that in abundance for this game.

See you at practice on Saturday!

Parents Meeting

The Blazers of off to a good start this season. We have two practices under our belt and the boys are progressing nicely and seem to be having fun. The boys decided upon a team name of BLAZERS! We also had a nice parent meeting discussing the upcoming season. I was trying to come up with a nice image for the page and the team

Didn't seem appropriate.

The boys might think this was neater, but still not the desired impact nor COOLNESS! Finally, I settled on until I can get input from others for a good logo. Or perhaps a team picture!
